Flamestripe sees the RiverClan cat again [CLOSED for Enchanted]

Flamestripe had been restless the whole night, his nest in the warriors' den suddenly uncomfortable. He decided to hunt, to wear off some of his restlessness and get him tired again. He absentmindedly headed toward the RiverClan border, knowing that there was a great place near there to hunt water voles that had strayed from RiverClan territory across the border in ThunderClan.

When he reached a place about ten fox-lengths from the border, he heard the quiet sound of prey. He tasted the air and immediately smelled water vole. He dropped into the hunters' crouch and poised himself in wait. When the small head of a vole peeked from under some ferns, Flamestripe stealthily crept in a wide half-circle so that he was behind the water vole. He pulled himself quietly forward until the prey was within a jumping length. He waggled his haunches to ready himself, and then leaped onto the water vole. He cut off its screech of surprise and pain by biting it on the neck.

Pleased with his easy catch, he headed to a tree that was closer to the RiverClan border than the ferns where the water vole had been hiding, and crouched down to eat it. He buried the bones underneath a tree root, and continued prowling through the undergrowth, coming closer and closer to the RiverClan border.

Before long he had caught another water vole a mouse, which Flamestripe buried underneath the dirt to collect later to bring back to Sunningrocks.

Tired, he slumped into some ferns a few bunny hops away from the RiverClan border. Wary of being so close to another Clan's territory, Flamestripe kept his eyes open a tiny slit to see if any RiverClan scum were creeping up on him.

Flamestripe jumped at the RiverClan cat's voice. He leaped to his paws and glared across the border. His breath was almost taken away when he saw Specklepaw. Or was she a warrior now? "S-Specklepaw?" he stammered.

OOC: So Specklestream is hostile first, and then Flamestripe is hostile. How about a small fight starts?

OOC: But we'll never know who wins! The only way is to use the battle system. But whatever, we'll use it another time.

IC: "I'm not Flamepaw!" he hissed. "I'm Flamestripe." He heaved against Specklestream, and leaped on top of her, pinning her down. He bit the side of her flank, and growled, "I did nothing wrong. You shouldn't have attacked me, because now I have a reason to beat you," he hissed into her ear. He clawed at her face, and then leaped off of her.

He padded to his side of the border, and started washing his scratches, keeping one eye on Specklestream in case she went on his side of the border again to attack. "You know, Specklepaw," he mewed casually, only allowing a hint of a mocking snarl in his voice. "What you just did might cause a battle between the two Clans, and it'll be your fault. Imagine what Fishstar would say," he added, purring to himself but loud enough for Specklestream to hear. "And imagine what Spottedstar and Duskfall will say, too."

Flamestripe hissed furiously. "No I didn't, fox-hearted RiverClan scum! I don't know what I ever saw in you. And you don't frighten me one bit. Remember that I'm older than you, thank you very much."  Then he added, "I did not cross the border! You're the one that crossed the border. And why did you do that? To attack me! To attack a warrior on his own territory! What do RiverClan teach their kits these days?" he snarled.

OOC: How about this is when Specklestream becomes sorrowful and sad?

Flamestripe stared across the border. "Specklestream... Specklestream, you can always trust me," he blurted out. "I still love you, Specklestream. But I respect the warrior code, and that's why we can't be mates. I'm so sorry, Specklestream. I wish we were in the same Clan," he whispered. And then the tears sprung in his eyes. "But we're not, and we have to fight each other tooth and claw. We have to use all our strength to fight with our Clan in a battle. Oh, Specklestream. Please understand that it breaks my heart to do this."  The tears started rolling down his cheeks, and he sobbed silently, staring at Specklestream the whole time.
