Tiger's Escape

Staying awake came easily to Tiger. He was used to it from all of the restless nights with his parents screaming at him for no apparent reason. The faded moonlight which shone in the hole told the striped kit that it was time to leave. He silently stood up and tip-toed to the entrance, making his way up and into the night. Oh how he hoped Glade was asleep.

Sandy just got back from hunting with a couple voles and mice, about to enter the tunnel, but instead saw the kit. "ROWRR!" Sandy yowled, and she hissed with full panic and terror, yet a bit of happiness that she caught the tiny kit. "Get back in there! Glade!" Sandy spat, her fur bristling, and running inside, dropping all the prey.

"Huh?" Glade shot up. "What happened!" She demanded.

Tiger jumped in fear as Sandy appeared at the entrance. He yowled and ran through her legs, out into the open air. It was almost dawn, just a bit before. This kit needed to get a move on if he wanted to escape his parents. Who knew, they could be searching for him at that very moment. The kitten bolted onto the sidewalk, hoping neither cat would follow him. Even though he enjoyed their kindness...or Glade's kindness at least, he still needed to scram.

"Wait! But Tiger…" Glade's ears dropped as she curled her tail around her paws. She held back her tears. "Big, girls, don't, cry.." She whispered as tears fell down.

"Well, um, that little kit was at the tunnel entrance when I got back from hunting! What was I supposed to do? Pin him down? Kill him? Offer him food? I just said, 'Get back in there!'" Sandy explained. She walked over to Glade and licked her. "It's okay. Why are you crying? He hates me! It's only fair to live with someone that's nice to both of us, like Orbit!" Sandy tried to say soothingly. "Live. Think about it! live."
