Dewkit's Apprentice Ceremony

Fishstar bounded up the willow branch and called, "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the willow branch for a Clan meeting!"

Dewkit finished grooming herself as she heard Fishstar's call. What's this about? She wondered curiously as she padded up to the Willow branch and sat down. Perking her grey ears towards Fishstar

Salmonpaw walked under the Willow Branch. She smiled, and looked at Dewkit. Probably her apprenticeship. Salmonpaw thought, then looked up at Fishstar.

Lightningpaw walked under the willow branch, looking around.

"I wonder who will be joining us today" she thought

Palegaze stood up on the rock she was sunning on. Her back arched and jaws opened in a wide yawn. Blinking a few times to clear her mind, she allowed the sun to warm her dark silver fur before settling down a few spots behind Dewkit. With an amused smile, a purr rumbled in her throat. 'This little one is going to become an apprentice today. How exciting! I remember my apprentice ceremony...' Perking up her ears and staring blankly at the willow branch, one thought occupied her brain. 'Who's going to be little Dewkit's mentor? I know I'm just a newly appointed warrior, but I'm eager to become a mentor.'

Fishstar regarded the unsuspecting kit with a smile. "Dewkit, please step forward."

Dewkit's eyes widened in shock as she heard her name, although trembling with excitement she managed to step forward coolly. Aware of everyone's gaze, in particular, Palegaze. She'd never met the cat but she knew she was a young warrior. I don't mind if she's my mentor. Dewkit thought as she glanced around the crowd. Before looking up at Fishstar.

Fishstar cleared her throat with a short grunt and proceeded with the ceremony. "Dewkit, you have now reached the age of six moons, and are ready to be apprenticed. From this day forth, until you receive your warrior name, you shall be known as Dewpaw. Mistfeather will mentor you. I expect she shall pass all of her knowledge and wisdom onto you."

Dewpaw's eyes gleamed with excitement as she searched the crowd for mentor.

Mistfeather stepped forward, looking down at the small tabby. It had been a while since her last apprentice had earned their name, so Mistfeather was ready to jump back into action. Pressing her nose to the new apprentice's nose, the deputy smiled.

"I look forward to teaching you everything I know, Dewpaw," she purred, fluffing the she-cat's head with her paw.

Dewpaw purred back quite pleased with Fishstar's choice.

Patchface was among the cats in the crowd, nodding his approval. He purred deeply in regard for Dewpaw.

Dewpaw purred as she trotted towards her father, rubbing her cheek against his legs.

IC: The gray she-cat couldn't help but purr as Dewpaw wove around Mistfeather's legs. Dipping her head contentedly toward the mentor and apprentice, she padded off to hunt.
