A Totally Normal, Uneventful Patrol [THE USURPER PLOT P1]

She was nervous.

Though Mistfeather had been deputy for quite some time, she had not planned a patrol of this caliber. Many cats had insisted on a large scale excursion. As well as eagerness, there was doubt. It was dangerous to take so many warriors away from camp. The deputy let out an exasperated sigh. All of this because of those damned ThunderClan cats.

Tensions were high between the clans, and Mistfeather wasn’t going to let them invade them once again. She knew the dangers of taking some many warriors along, but she needed to secure the borders quickly. No cat knew if their foresty neighbours would strike again and RiverClan would not let them destroy their home once again. The tabby hissed at the thought of ThunderClan and turned her attention to the camp. The she-cat let out a heavy yowl, signalling for every cat to gather. Mistfeather gracefully leaped onto the ancient willow, her silver fur shining in the growing sunlight. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the willow branch for a Clan meeting!" She sat tall as RiverClan convened, her white-tipped tail flicking apprehensively. She could see the unease in the crowd but paid no mind. The deputy would need firmness and prowess to overcome the skepticism.

With Fishstar recovering from an intense wound, it was left to Mistfeather to guide RiverClan in this time of need. This is the best thing to do. We need to protect our territory and show those dungfaces they can't just waltz in and take what they please.

Icetail padded over. She went on with them on the patrol- Tidalpaw was tagging along. The fight resulting in their rocks taken from them. And Specklepaw joined them in loving their type? It killed Tidalpaw to know that that had happened- and that a tom name Redpaw took her brothers life. But apparently he died. That was their revenge. She was a little disturbed by his apparent death.

Specklepaw padded after Icetail. She shoved Tidalpaw to get next to Icetail. She smirked as she sat down.

Patchface's gaze lifted as he entered the camp from a patrol. He trudged underneath the willow branch before sitting down, making sure to sit away from Specklepaw.

Brightwing padded from the Warriors den quietly looking to the others then to Mistfeather quietly. The white and two tone ginger she cat looked to the deputy and sat silently.

Tansypaw padded out from the apprentice's den, worried. Her mentor Fishstar was still wounded, and the deputy had to take charge. She was just glad that the deputy wasn't hurt, and that Mistfeather was deputy. She knew, although she was an apprentice, that Fishstar had great judgement. If she trusted Mistfeather, than so did Tansypaw.
She sat down under the willow branch, looking up at the silver tabby and waiting.

Brightwing sat quietly glancing to her clanmates as they came out before she looked to Mistfeather. She didn't really like the whole choice of the deputy but she never said a word about it. She figured Mistfeather was about to say something about patrols or another but waited to find out. She flicked her white and ginger and dark ginger striped tail somewhat patiently.

Lightningpaw walked out to face her deputy. She sat underneath the willow branch her mind full of worry for the thunderclan attack that had wounded many cats had just taken place.

While Mistfeather called the meeting, Ashcloud looked up from his grooming beside the warrior’s den to set his blank gaze on the younger she-cats, flicking his banded tail quietly. He often wondered why Fishstar had chosen her to be his deputy, but just as often reminded himself that she had been one of the few candidates available for the title. Now that he thought of it, the few cats he had thought right for the title were gone now. Wow, that was depressing. The white tom stood and stretched his back before trotting closer to the aged willow tree to listen.
