Russetkit's Apprentice Ceremony

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the willow branch for a Clan meeting," Fishstar called.

Russetkit scampered over to gather beneath the Willow Branch. The kit knew what was about to happen, and he was very excited. He was about to be an apprentice. As he waited for others to gather, he began to wonder who Fishstar would choose to be his mentor. He personally didn't care who he received, for he trusted that his leader would choose the right cat. Therefore, he waited as patiently as he could for the ceremony to begin.

Fishstar could see the giddiness in the kit's steps and gaze, and her tail twitched amusingly. "Russetkit, please step forward."

Russetkit immediately obeyed Fishstar's command as she ordered him to step forward. He stepped forward and eagerly waited for her to say the next few lines.

"Russetkit, you have reached the age of six moons and are now ready to be apprenticed. From this day forth, until you receive your warrior name, you shall be known as Russetpaw." The leader directed her attention to the new apprentice's mentor. "Icetail will mentor you. I expect that she shall pass on all of her skills to you."

Russetpaw proudly stepped forward to touch noses with his mentor. He trusted that Icetail to do the best she could to pass down everything she had learned to him. He purred slightly as he touched noses with her.

Icetail smiled and touched noses with him. "I expect you to be a wonderful warrior." She said happily.

Russetpaw purred louder as he had already received a praise from his mentor. "I won't let you down. I promise," he promised in a confident tone. He was excited to begin his warrior training.
