TONGUES (DEERNOSE PLOT P3)

Icepaw was anticipating what was going to happen when he saw Ashpaw shiver with fear. "Hey" He mowed quietly to the she cat. "How is your training with Wolftrot going?" He asked, hoping that talking about something else would help get her mind off the horror that was in front of them.

Wolftrot wrapped his tail around Ashpaw instinctively when she moved closer. He wanted to protect her from the scathing words of the elder, although the most he could do was simply have her close to him and away from the elder.

Cobaltfire had the same idea and wrapped her tail around Icepaw to bring him close. She wouldn't let any more harsh words to be flung his or any other apprentice's way.

Once Icepaw felt Colbaltfire rap her tail around him, he felt much safer. Even though he was trying to be more brave and tough, his mentors soft fur would always calm him down.

The fur on Lightpaw's spine bristled and he hissed at the elder in defense of Icepaw. He didn't fear this crazy tom--he was just a delusional old badger who'd lost his wits a long time ago. Lightpaw could take him... if he really wanted to. The white tom looked at Ashpaw and Icepaw, wrapped up in their mentors' protection, and his gaze slid over to Eaglethorn. His mentor would probably never cosset Lightpaw like that, but he knew that the warrior wouldn't let Deernose harm him if he could help it. He gripped the hard earth with his claws, wishing Falconstar would show up and take care of the elder already.

As soon as he saw Lightpaw give him a disgusted look, Icepaw immediately moved away from Colbaltfire. He didn't want to seem rude to his mentor but he wasn't going to have the other apprentices think he was scared of an elder.

Ashpaw sighed happily in Wolftrot's embrace. Her mentor was the best! "Yeah," she whispered back to Icepaw, happy to distract herself from Deernose. She almost felt sorry for the elder. "How's Cobaltfire? She's Wolftrot's sister, you know."

"She's fine I guess. We haven't done much training though...." He said with a soft sigh. "Hopefully after this clan drama both of us will be more focused to go on a patrol or go hunt"

Ashpaw nodded at Icepaw's remark. Clan drama put it very well, except a cat's life was at stake. She wondered what Deernose must have been like when he wasn't crazy.

After a moment or two, Icepaw relized that he should have reworded his statement about clan drama and that he should have shown a little more respect to the life that was on the line. "Sorry," he said to Ashpaw. "I know that a life is on the line, but doesnt he kindof deserve it?"

"It's not really his fault that he's gone crazy," responded Ashpaw. "I agree it wasn't right to attack a Clanmate, but the old Deernose is gone. Wolftrot told me some stories about what he used to be like, and he would never do that normally."

"Ya, i have to agree with that" Icepaw replied, looking into the distance, suddenly lost in thought.

OOC: We should probably wait for the others to catch up now.

Deernose hissed and bared his teeth. “She deserved it.” His tail lashed in irritation and impatience. “I don’t need this dragging on any longer. Where’s Falconstar.” He watched Eaglethorn’s pacing. His claws dug into the earth, remembering that not long ago that the leader’s son had torn into his pelt.

Ashpaw fell back a couple steps after the old brown tom addressed her directly. Where was Falconstar? This was his Clan.
