| THE ASSEMBLY The Premise A simple and flexible nation RP in a fictional world made by that sexy Jay fellow.
Create your very own country, with its own language, government, and history, and try to survive in a turbulent political landscape. Can you lead your civilization to greatness?
Tiers Tiers are integral to this RP's systems.
There are five tiers that classify nations by their power and influence.
Hyperpower - a nation that dominates all other states in every single sphere of activity. Unless someone conquers the entire world, you most likely won't see anybody reach this level. Superpower - a dominant and powerful nation that can exert power and influence on a global scale. Great Power - a dominant and powerful nation with worldwide influence, but not to the scale of a superpower. This is the strongest tier you can start as. Middle Power - a second-tier nation that can't be classified as great or small. Small Power - an insignificant nation with little to no influence internationally. This is the weakest tier.
Warfare System This will be simple.
Detail in your post which region your troops are attacking. Roll two of the Big Dice. The first number will be your attack, the second number will be your opponent's defense.
This is where your tier will come into play.
You will get a +20 bonus for however many tiers you are above your opponent. This means a Superpower gets +20 to their roll when attacking/defending against a Great Power, +40 against a Middle Power, and +60 against a Small Power.
If the attacker's number is higher than the defender's number, the attacker wins the battle, and the defender's troops will be pushed back. If the defender's number is higher, the attackers are the ones pushed back. The defender always wins in the event of a tie.
Example: Say that Nation A, a Superpower, is attacking troops in the south of Nation B, a Middle Power. Nation A rolls a 50, Nation B rolls a 75. However, Nation A also gets a +40 bonus against Nation B, turning their 50 into a 90. Thus, Nation A wins the roll, and Nation B's army is beaten back.
Wars in this RP are nominally turn-based. You don't have to counter-attack if you don't want to though. You cannot attack more than once without waiting for the other person to post first. Exceptions will be made if your enemy randomly disappears off the face of the earth.
If you are being attacked on multiple fronts by multiple nations, then you can attack them all back individually.
Example if you're confused: Nation A is being attacked by Nation B from the west, Nation C from the north, and Nation D from the south. Nation A can attack Nation B, Nation C, and Nation D all at once in separate attacks/dice rolls. However, Nation A cannot attack Nation B, or C, or D twice in a row without waiting.
IMPORTANT: Absolutely no magically bypassing a country's armies, defenses, or terrain. That's considered godmodding and won't be tolerated. No, you cannot just paratroop your soldiers into the nation's capital if it's 100 miles inland. If you're attacking over the sea, then no, you can't just land on enemy shores without first engaging their navy or coast guard. If you don't have air superiority yet, then no, your air force can't just go willy-nilly throughout the countryside without facing enemy jets or artillery. That's how real life works.
As for long-range nuclear missiles and the like, treat launches as battles in themselves. So there's a chance of them getting shot down before anything is dropped.
Economic System For the most part, there is none. If you say you have a strong economy, then that's cool, I believe you.
Aside from that, there are two facets of the economic system: sanctions and trade power.
Sanctions and embargoes work somewhat similar to the Warfare System, except without the dice. You don't like someone's face? Sanction them! The higher tier you are, the more powerful the sanction is. Typically, the point of a sanction is to pressure a nation into doing something (or to stop doing something).
The effects of this are mostly just in-character. If sanctions are severe enough, your economy will suffer, your people won't be able to purchase goods as easily, and your poor might even begin to starve. It's essentially a giant middle finger. If you just shrug off the effects and act like nothing's wrong for a long period of time, you might end up facing a popular revolt within your own borders. That won't be very fun.
You can lift sanctions through: a). diplomacy and negotiation. b). aggressive missile launches directly at whoever sanctioned you.
Take lessons from the Cold War. Avoid missiles to the face if possible in the interest of human civilization.
Trade power is also mostly an in-character thing. Say your country has some of the largest oil deposits in the world. Cool! People like oil. It's essentially your bargaining chip. If you're a Small or Middle Power, stuff like this is your key into getting promoted to a higher tier. Use diplomacy and negotiation to get yourself in a great position, and you'll be hanging with the Great Powers in no time.
The Rules 1. No real life nations, modern or historical. Custom, made-up countries only. We don't know about Britain or Russia here in our fantasy land. 2. National leaders count as actual characters, so you can't kill them without permission from their roleplayer. This same rule applies to royal families and other characters that have actual development. Feel free to blow up random peasants with military-grade weaponry though, because no one cares about them. 3. Aside from that, nobody's safe. You're allowed to conquer whole countries if you want, even without that roleplayer's permission. We have that Warfare System for a reason. 4. Don't be too ridiculous. We're grounded in reality to an extent, so no, your country can't be called Guesttopia with a flag of your face on it. And no, your national leader cannot be an anthropomorphic dancing banana that rides a pegasus. This might be a fantasy world, but we're still bound by the laws of nature, God, and physics. Unless you've got some kooky Caligula-tier government going on here, your national leader is (probably) going to be a human being. 5. Realistic proportions. If you have a dirt poor economy, you don't have the money to invest in lunar colonies. Think rationally. 6. Modern 21st century technology and time setting. As time goes on, new technology will be developed, but we probably won't get wildly sci-fi up in here. ALIENS PLS GO. 8. Nobody starts as a Superpower or Hyperpower. At most you can start as a Great Power, which is more than enough. Nations will get promoted as they begin to overshadow other countries in their tier. 9. This is a free-form RP without a post order. Just don't timeskip years into the future. As it is a free-form RP, there won't be a linear plot we'll all follow, but there might be special events for when things get stale. So watch out for that. 10. If you go inactive for a significant amount of time and don't post, then bad things will happen to your country. We'll cross that bridge when we get to it, but I have something in mind. 11. It's never too late to join! So long as we still have room on the map, anybody can get involved. 12. You may have three nations at a time. However, two of them must start as a Small Power or Middle Power, and be relatively small in physical size. There's only so much room on the map.
The Map
These are the wonderfully sexy maps that Jay got together. Name for the planet still pending.
Your country can be large, but keep it within reason.
The Creation There are two sign-up templates you can choose to fill out. One is the Basic Template, which is the shorter version. The other is the Extended Template, which is more in-depth. You only have to fill out one, so don't worry.

| Nation Name:Empire of Lansong Demonym:Langese ('Langs' being a common slur) Ethnic Groups:79.96% Langese, 12.85% Thang, 4.43% Homijan, 1.61% Seongese, 0.97% Mayumin, 0.18% Lhazin. Government Type:Imperial monarchy. Lansong could be considered a benevolent dictatorship. There is only one legal political party, which is headed by the Emperor, and the National Congress is little more than a puppet than can be dissolved or purged at whim. The Emperor himself wields near supreme authority, but despite the complete lack of a democratic system, tyranny and repression is not very widespread. The royal family holds strong support among many ethnic Langese especially, although not so much among the Empire's minorities. Head of State:Shou of the Lansong dynasty, the 125th Emperor of his bloodline. He has one wife, nineteen concubines, four sons, seven daughters, two nephews, one niece, and has five more unborn children on the way. His children: Princess Mei - age 23 Crown Prince Shui - age 21 Prince Xun - age 19 Princess Choe - age 18 Prince Ling - age 17 Princess Wu - age 17 Princess Dai - age 16 Prince Tsu - age 15 Princess Ren - age 14 Princess Mao - age 12 Princess Ni - age 10 His nephews and niece: Prince Zho - age 24 Prince Su - age 22 Princess Lee - age 16 The mothers of his children: Empress Consort Xiao - age 43, mother of Mei Consort Cixi - age 37, mother of Shui Consort Pei - age 35, mother of Xue Consort Wa - age 33, mother of Choe Consort Ci'an - age 32, mother of Ling Consort Toy - age 31, mother of Wu Consort Xu-Xu - age 30, mother of Dai Consort Qiu - age 29, mother of Tsu Consort Ping - age 29, mother of Ren Consort Hsiao - age 27, mother of Mao Consort Lao - age 26, mother of Ni Other concubines: Consort Nuan - age 27, expecting a daughter Consort Thau - age 26, early in pregnancy Consort Chao - age 24, expecting a son Consort Jiao - age 23, expecting a daughter Consort Ba - age 23, suspected to be barren Consort Ke - age 22 Consort Lai - age 20, expecting a son Consort Dee - age 17 National Symbol:Dragon Capital City:Weifei. An inland city surrounded by hills that straddles the great river of Shushun. Contains the City of Heaven, where the royal family resides. Other Major Cities:Sailan, a major port and a hub of trade and commerce. Tokwon, the largest city in Lansong, and the most diverse. Chudao, a city on the wild frontier. Romanticized as the Emerald City. Tougata, an island city with a large Mayumin population. Known as "Mazon" among the natives. Fengqi, a religious city that sits at the base of a sacred mountain. Home of the royal family's Summer Palace. Climate:Very diverse. The nation is divided by rainy bamboo forests, broad grassland and steppe, temperate hills and plains, tropical jungles and beaches, and subarctic mountains and plateaus. Economy:Strong but extremely unequal. Minorities in particular languish in poverty. Currency:The tael. Military:Immense, but lacking in some modern weaponry and somewhat corrupt. While dominated by ethnic Langese, there are certain regiments for ethnic minorities such as Homijans. The military is divided into three branches: the Army, Navy, and Air Force. There is also a paramilitary force that doubles as secret police and special operations, known as the Tiger Brigade. Natural Resources:Many, including coal, copper, nickel, tin, aluminum, rubber, timber, gemstones, and hydropower. Natural Hazards:Typhoons, floods, tsunamis, earthquakes, monsoonal rains, landslides and active volcanoes in their island territories. Languages:Officially Langese, which is compulsory in schools all across the country. Regional languages include Thang, Homijan, Seongese, and Mayumin, although these are increasingly uncommon. Lhazin is nearly dead as a language. Religions:Primarily Tianism, which is a form of heaven worship. There are efforts to stamp out other minority religions in the Empire, but Lhazin minorities remain staunchly Tendhist. Population:1,357,380,000 Regions:Rizhu - a beautiful and temperate region marked by hills, plains, lakes, and rivers. Ruled directly by the crown itself from the capital of Weifei. Jinwei - a seaside region and the traditional heart of Lansong's navy. Ruled by Crown Prince Shui and Xia Kao from the city of Beiha. Hujin - broad grassland with a desert steppe along the eastern border. Ruled by Shang Fa from Xiangfei. Tianyi - an old region covered in mountain and rainy bamboo forests. The center of religion in Lansong. Ruled by Zhou Cho, a priest, from the city of Fengqi. Yomo - a rural region, covered in swaths of forest and mountains. Ruled by Qin Zhieu from Shangbo, known as "Cloud City." Hongwu - a region along the coast that is a historically integral part of Lansong's great trade network. It remains a hub for trade to this day. Ruled by Princess Mei and Liao Yuan from Sailan. Chuzhou - a mountainous region that serves as a center of industry and production, especially mining and arms manufacturing. The entire region is covered in defensive fortifications and the military often does exercises here. Ruled by Han Yuang from Huangshao. Shengde - a sunny subtropical region characterized by its beaches and wetlands. Ruled by Xin Dai from Longchou. Dailang - a wild region, covered in jungle along the eastern coastline and hills to the west. Ruled from the "Emerald City" of Chudao by Jin Ma. Homija - a former empire and island region populated by a warlike people. It's traditionally ruled by eighteen different clans, but the nobles of Homija are now forced to answer to a half-Langese regional governor instead. Ruled by Ryuu Inoue from Fujiwara. Thanga - a tropical region with a booming and bustling population. Ruled by Sui Lao from Tokwon. Lhaza - a snowy and mountainous region. Its native people remain deeply traditional, deeply religious, and deeply resentful of Langese rule. Ruled by Tang Yong from Fort Xiuquan. Seong - a hilly region with wide coastal plains. Ruled by Ming Lo from Kyungsam. Mayumi - a tropical island region covered in mountains and coastal lowlands. Ruled by Song Xiu from Tougata. Culture Overview:Despite Lansong's rapid industrialization and modernity, it is still a country steeped in tradition and old customs. Vestiges of feudalism still remain, with the wealthy consisting almost entirely of old money nobles and powerful aristocrats, while dangerous republicans and reformists are violently stamped out in displays of state repression. Minorities, such as Homijans, Thangs, and especially Lhazins, are treated as second-class citizens for the most part, and even in the modern day, women are restricted by the highly traditional Langese family structure and aren't afforded the same opportunities as men. But aside from all that, Lansong is a country with a rich culture, history, and folklore, and has been a center of art and literary achievement since ancient times. Brief History: According to tradition, the first Emperor first arose as King of Rizhu, from the ancient city of Weifei. In those days, the lands of Lansong were split between many different warring states: Dailang, Shengde, Chuzhou, Yomo, Tianyi, Hujin, and Hongwu. Through cunning, warfare, and strength of will, the King launched a conquest of all the other warring states, forging them into a single empire he called Lansong. Over the course of the next several centuries, Lansong faced many crises and wars, but held strong, and gradually expanded into other neighboring states. The monk-like nomads of Lhaza, the islander tribes of Mayumi, the great kingdom of Seong, the fractured states in the jungles of Thanga, and the warlike eighteen clans of Homija, and many more all fell to the will of the great armies of Lansong. To many nations, Lansong was an exotic locale known for its spices, silks, tea, and other many luxury goods which it traded to the rest of the world. However, when faced with the covetous and hungry gazes of other colonizers, the traditional country of Lansong decided to rapidly reform and industrialize, in what would be called the Weifei Restoration. Ninety years later, Lansong stands as a Great Power on par with the other powerful nations of the world. Tier:Great Power Map Location:Calling dibs here. If not a lot of people join and nobody claims that island to the east of me, then I'll just take that too. Map Color:Dark gray, almost black. ______________________________________ ‹‹ former site administrator ›› pm me

Its navy includes Abisakvaren (spy submarines) as well as Lugerboten (Aselen premier battle ships), known for their deep plated armor and slow movement. Spegeiekraft (Aselen fighter jets) aren't the best in the world, but they can get the job done. Infantry is mostly standard men, with the frontlines led by armored attack vehicles, which generally act as shields for infantry units. They contain .50 calibur rifles. Infantry weapons are usually light and efficient for fast movement, light rifles generally in the range of MP7s. Natural Resources: Gold and iron from mines in the central mines of the main island. Cocoa is grown on small islands, mostly on Tsetsian islands near Kauern. Natural Hazards: Rocky waters near the south coast of the main island; Swift currents along west coast. Tsetsians are the most culturally traditional, having been there longer. Radical Tsetsians want to form their own republic, while radical Enns want to kick Tsetsians out. Brief History: Tsetsians settled there long before the Enns, settling Kauern, the oldest city in Asele. Enns came when they were forced out of the northern lands, having been in countless wars with the people there. When they migrated to the island, the Tsetsians were initially angry, and they had a war with the Enns. The Enns, however, having been used to war, was able to defeat the Tsetsians, being larger in number and military prowess. Tsetsians and Enns made peace in the Treaty of the Republic, which doubles as Asele's constitution, had Tsetsians agree to an annexation into an Ennish nation. Tsetsians have considered succession for years, but have become too reliant on Aseler economy to break away. While in the summer, the temperatures rarely get very high. Economy:Strong, Large middle class and very little low class, stable economic growth with growing technology to make farming and mining easier. Currency:Urin Military:Fairly large, and very strict. 2/5 of the government's income goes to it. It has a nice size navy, a small air force, and a large army. What most of the countries don't know, is that Hoca relies a great deal on spies, and has had spies hidden within most countries. Natural Resources: Wood, Ice, wheat, barley, citrus, copper mines (which have a byproduct of gold, silver, molybdenum, lead, zinc, and cobalt) Natural Hazards: Stray mine shafts within the small mountains of Sobian mountain range, Poison leaves, and large predators within the forests of the Bewanian forests, and the steep cliffs of the Neoaton sea side. Main ethnic group is the Maerphens) Bewanian region (Large expanses of forests holds the city of Bewana and the capital city Ivesh. Main ethnic group is the Gamilians ) Neoaton Region (Steep cliff sides, cities situation in the areas where there are beaches. Holds the city of Neoaton. Main ethnic group are the Calphish people) Culture Overview: The country is mainly split up between three cultures, however the Gamilian culture is slowly gaining more and more people from the minorities, the Calphish people and the Maerphens. This is a very slow event, and no one really notices or cares, too busy in their lives. Brief History: Hoca is a very, very old country and was one of the first to appear on the face of the planet. At first it was a Anarchist state, whoever could control the city was in charge. This brought upon much death to the country and many decided it was time for a change. One group, who remained neutral in the rough beginning, claimed they were chosen by their gods (the gods of the Gamilian people) that their family was told to rule over the country. Again, that went down hill, and the people looked to their elders for guidance, thus creating the council. One person per group of people. And thus it has been like this for many years. Of course, there is more depth to the government, but this is the base outline. Tier:Middle Power Map Location:- Spoiler:

| Double post, but #yolo.
Rule update: you can have three nations at a time now, and they can be either Small or Middle Powers. It doesn't look like tons of people are flocking to join this, so we might as well fill out the map a little more.
Ebs sounds like she's joining too, and then I'll probably just get this started if no one else expresses interest. I'm also thinking about making an African-inspired country because everyone's so white, but I'm not sure yet. We'll see.
Question toward all of you out of curiosity: who possesses nukes here? This was a question I meant to put on the form, but I forgot because I was working on it while dead-tired.
I imagine Lansong is secretly developing nukes and other WMDs but hasn't quite reached that point yet. So what about the rest of you? ______________________________________ ‹‹ former site administrator ›› pm me |

Its island territories are prone to flooding, though. There is an ancient Emiko city that becomes completely submerged every spring. Legends circulate this city. Economy: The country's urbanized parts are experiencing a rapid shift in economy as they become more modernized. Rural areas still have some reliance on trading, however. Currency: Kaben Military: The Emiko military contains unique fighters, who carry blades on their backs as well as their gun. Soldiers are required to master the blade, a short Emiko traditional blade called the Fosetu. Guns are of lesser quantity, mostly imported from more militarized countries. Natural Resources: Exotic fruit, iron, spices Natural Hazards: Flooding, as previously mentioned, is a big concern in eastern Emiko. Sub languages include Thang and little pockets of the nearly-dead Lhazin, which is still spoken by some in western Emiko. Religions: Most Emiko do not practice religion. Some subgroups stick to religion they brought over, however. A rice farmer named Emikoano saw this tree and knew it was sacred. He built the city Nishi with his own two hands, and Emiko blossomed around it, more trees appearing on sites of future cities. Natural Resources: Mahāna's mountainous range is rich with mines of various minerals: Zinc, Iron ore, Manganese ore, Gold, Silver, Lead, Tin, and Copper. Most of the country's supplies are sold off into more industrialist countries. Rice and Cotton are also strong industries, for both Mahāna itself and it's trade. Natural Hazards: Flooding and Hurricanes are almost always the biggest concerns. Languages: Mahānian Religions: Śud'dha Khūna, the country's national religion of which almost all of it's inhabitants practice. It's based on the belief of near countless Gods and Goddesses in the world, to be loved and respected by all of humanity. One of the most powerful of them all, Ambara, is said to have brought the region together near the beginning of the world against invaders and other great evils. It was said that before she disappeared, from this world to her own to rest, that she took on the land's prince for a lower and left him with a child, Aadi, the first of the royal bloodline. Those who practice this religion also have a strong belief in karma and reincarnation. It is said that all those of Aadi's blood are born with the purest souls, chosen by the divine. They are also said to have the ability to speak to Ambara and have the duty to carry out her will, and that of the Gods. Population: 1,132,945,000 Regions: Āsamāna chū, Sāgara ṭaca, Cāvala ṭaca, Vana ṭaca, Ṭā'igara kō ārāma Culture Overview: A very traditional and religious country. Values of family, religion, and betterment overwhelm the majority of it's citizens. It has a loose caste system, from a short glance, it is easy to point and find out each social class each individual person would most likely belong too. Outsiders are not too common in this area, aside from the Ariayns, who fled to the country after the collapse of their own land a few centuries before. The royal family is considered both the political and religious heads of the country, for stuff and things. Brief History: Monks and Cities did stuff and things and made a country. It used to be a region of smaller, individual peoples, before being brought together hundreds of years ago, though the method by which this was done was never recorded precisely and lives on mostly in legend. Then more things happened. And yay. Psuedo-Indian Country. Tier: Middle Power Map Location: <3< >3> Map Color: All up in that Goldenrod Color. ______________________________________ |
