Boring one-cat border patrol

Mousepaw padded along the border of Shadowclan's territory, looking for any sign of trespassers. He had decided to go on a one-cat border patrol, having nothing else to do. His brown tabby fur gave him away in the crisp, newly-fallen snow. Suddenly, the tom heard a sound from behind him. Mousepaw looked over his shoulder, seeing nobody. Must've been the wind, he convinced himself. The only problem was that there was no wind. The tom continued on, alert for any more sounds or movements.

Light patches of grey and black striped fur was snagged on twigs. Darkstrike padded around the territory. He was coming back from.. Something. The faint scent of blood clung to his paws and a dangerous look gleamed in his eyes. The shadowclan warrior saw Mousepaw and decided to say hello. He padded over, but before he could do anything, he tripped on a rock and fell. He got up. "Hey Mousepaw." He said, getting up.

Suddenly, the faint smell of blood swam up the apprentice's nose. His heart beated faster, afraid that someone was goin to jump out and attack. once he saw Darkstripe, he calmed down a little. "What are you doing?" He asked, not bothering to return the greeting. "And why do you smell like blood?" Despite thedanger in Darkstripe's eyes, Mousepaw was rather pushy.

BlackClaw bounded through the snow drifts searching for clues of DapplePelt's death and for prey for the clan. Suddenly blood hit his nose. Turning towards the area of which it came he ran to where he was. "Whose there?" Spotting two fellow clan mates MousePaw and DarkStrike. "What are you two doing?! I don't think border patrols have been issued especially with two cats. With the weather so cold and prey scarce we must have at least four warriors on patrol. The other clans may attack us if they too suffer." Sniffing he turned his head to DarkStrike. "Smells like you've been hunting. What did you catch?.... But anyways I'll help you two finish up here and head back."

Darkstrike was about to reply to Mousepaw, but when Blackclaw approached he growled inside. Dont hold a grudge.. his mother told him. Luckily, to avoid accusation, he actually HAD done some hunting. "I was hunting." He replied. "THATS why I have blood on my paws. I buried it over there. I'm sorry for not telling, it was going to be just a stroll but I wasn't going to let a good squirrel run off."

IC: Mousepaw narrowed his eyes. That blood doesn't smell like squirrel. "Oh. Thats a nice excuse," he mumbled under his breath. "Are you sure you didn't run into a rouge or anything on our territory and have a scuffle or something?" He asked, bending down at Darkstrike's paws and sniffing them. "cause that doesn't smell like a squirrel." He stood back up. "Just wondering." A sly smirk grew on his face. This cat is up to something. Mousepaw liked to put cats in the spot and ask a billion questions to make them nervous.

Darkstrike growled lowly. "Don't defy your warriors." He shook his head. "It was squirrel. I did run into a rogue but I didn't fight it." This was true, though. "The horrid thing was dead, and it looked like a Shadowclan warrior, so I incpected it, but it wasn't."

BlackClaw narrowed his eyes. "You should report that dead rogue to ThrushStar! If it was dead then someone must have killed him."
