titles are hard

A small grayish brown-furred cat sat at the edge of the camp, trying to look regal despite her messy appearance. Everything looked so beautiful to her, since she had just opened her eyes. She still had a lot to learn, such as what all these things were called, where the territory expanded out, so much to learn that it almost hurt her brain. Well, she didn't have to worry about all of that for quite a while. Her parents were all she could hear, and with nothing to do all she heard was them and their soothing voices. She picked up just enough to understand, and speak some of it.

Coalpaw padded up to the young kit, her black and white paws quietly grazing the ground to not disturb napping elders. She'd been down at the river to clean the mouse bile she had been using to remove ticks from the elders. The presence of the small grayish brown pelted cat that had been in the nursery only till today peaked her interest.

She mreowed calmly in greeting as she approached Bolekit, tail twitching in curiosity at the young kit. She kind of reminded her of Duskpaw, back when he was Duskkit. A ball of messy brown fur, wide eyed and ready to face the world.

Blazingpaw proudly padded into camp, a dead thrush hanging limply in his mouth. He set his kill in the fresh kill pile before looking around for something to do. He saw an apprentice talking to a kit near-by, so the tom decided to join in on the conversation, and maybe even a game if they decided to play one. Blazingpaw approached, not recognizing the kit. Must be new, he thought. "Hi Coalpaw," He said as he sat down. Blazingpaw turned to the kit. "Hi, I'm Blazingpaw." He curled his tail around his paws to keep them warm in the cold weather.

Gingerpaw

As the pitch black cat that towered over her like a falcon finally got up to her, she stared up at the she-cat. Her eyes grew wide with awe, until they were almost released from their sockets. They sat in silence for a bit, until another newcomer came by. Another new phrase was floated by in the form of noise. The small kit repeated the words over and over, getting the hang of them until they flew off her tongue with ease. "Hi Blazingpaw, hi Coalpaw!" the little she-kit meowed triumphantly.

"Hello Blazingpaw." A quick duck of the head, and with a quiet mew, she greeted him. Blazingpaw held a special place of thanks in her heart for rescuing her mouse-brained brother from a rouge.

Coalpaw mreowed in delight at the kits greetings, she licked the kit affectionately on her head in praise. It was a new feeling for the black she-cat, looking onto younger cats with pride at their achievements. This was the first time that she'd had any cats younger than her, and she enjoyed this foreign feeling of being almost motherly. "Hi Bolekit. I'm glad to meet you."

Blazingpaw smiled at Bolekit. "You're learning well," He said the she-kit. "You'll make a fine warrior someday." Blazingpaw purred

The kit couldn't really understand all these words, but their expressions did show something she could understand. The kit pranced up to the the black cat, and started circling her front right paw, as she rubbed up against Coalpaw affectionately. "Blazingpaw, Blazingpaw!" she said, mistaking the two cats.

A mrreow of amusement overcame her easily at the kits confusion. Coalpaw first returned the affectionate gestures of the kit with a rub of her muzzle against Bolekit's flank. Before gently correcting her by gesturing to Blazingpaw and spoke, "Blazingpaw."

Then gestured to herself. "Coalpaw."

Blazingpaw couldn't help but let out a laugh. "I'm Blazingpaw." He licked the kit's head and purred.

As the cat's muzzle pushed into her flank, she was taken off balance with her unsteady feet. While she struggled to stay upright, she listened to the voices of the two. Again, she repeated what they said. "Blazingpaw, Coalpaw!" Bolekit jumped from where she was onto Coalpaw's leg, and clung to her. A small squeak escaped her as she pushed her faced into the cat's leg.

"Yes, Bolekit. Well done." Coalpaw spoke, gently lifting her paw up as much as she could. She let the kit have fun, dangling on her paw for entertainment. She found the kit's enthusiasm infectious and adorable, though she'd never admit that to anyone.
