The First Crack

Ghostpaw ran further and further away from camp a growl ripped through his throat and he threw himself at tree before him. Clawing the bark off of the trunk savagely a recognition of how odd it was he had found a tree so close to camp passed through his mind but he let his anger and greif push the thought aside. In truth, what had felt like only moments to him had been a long expanse of time and he was not far from the thunderclan border, in the area where trees started to merge with the moors.

With another loud snarl Ghostpaw threw himself at a different tree and when he saw a mouse run away from the underbrush nearby he took off in pursuit. After catching up with the small creature Ghostpaw leapt, imbedding his claws into the creature before ripping them out. Repeating the process Ghostpaw tore at the prey's carcass until it was nothing more than bits of torn flesh, bones, and a puddle of blood.

Moonpaw watched with fear as he saw his brother, the silent kit who was never rough, release a ferocity unrivaled by any cat he knew. He had been keeping a close eye on his brother since the death of their mother but this was almost scary. Coming up to his brother, Moonpaw said," Hey Ghostpaw, you alright?" Moonpaw tried to look his brother in the eye, however, he could not keep his eyes off what was left of the mouse.

Honeypaw was hunting and then she spotted Moonpaw walking to the strange scented area. Ghostpaw's scent mingled with it, and she walked after him. She gasped as she saw her brother doing things he never did, and she watched in fear and curiosity.

Ghostpaw looked up with a snarl launched in his throat only to find his brother before him with his sister approaching from behind Moonpaw. The moment Ghostpaw's eyes met his siblings he looked away and stepped back from the shredder remains of the mouse.

Looking down at the torn up mouse Ghostpaw glanced back at his siblings and sighed. Turning to face away from both his siblings and the mouse Ghostpaw muttered something about being fine before starting to pad away towards camp.

Honeypaw looked confused as her brother walked away, catching no words as he grumbled. "Are you okay?" She asked, running after him.

Moonpaw ran in front of Ghostpaw and blocked his way. With a slight snarl he meowed," Ghostpaw, I know you're not fine. You have acting been weird and becoming violent." Moonpaw flicked his tail back at the remains of the mouse.

Ghostpaw suddenly looked up from his paws and hissed at Moonpaw. "Stay out of it Moonpaw." He spat the name at his brother before giving his sister a guilty glance and then he bolted away from his siblings, running as fast as he could.
