Night Exploration

The night was silent, the air cold, and there were very few cats out of their nests. There were shadows everywhere, adding to the chilling air. Suddenly, there was a pair of emerald green orbs floating about in the dark patches. They disappeared, then reappeared, two green spotlights shining through the night. A few seconds passed, then a black she-cat stepped into the light, the moon illuminating her long fur. She sat down and gazed up at the stars, her green eyes scanning the sky. Twitching her whiskers, she smiled. "A perfect night to explore the territory." Her voice was smooth and silvery, and rang in the night air. She stood up and stretched, shaking dirt from her feathery tail. Blinking once more, she set off into the forest. She walked for a while, past a river and a big rock with four humongous trees surrounding it. Walking around some more, she found a big canyon with deep, rushing water at the bottom. She shivered and hurried away. Coming to a stop at her den, she smiled. "That was a good exploration. I think I'll head the other direction!" she mewed, looking around. As she came closer to SkyClan camp, she shrugged off the fact that they might be hostile. I've met many cats on my journey. Almost all of them were kind! She shook her cranium and continued farther. Soon, she arrived at a place smelling strongly of cats. "Hmm.. Maybe I'll just take a peek..." she whispered to herself. Nearing a den, she curiously but cautiously stuck her head in. There were she-cats mothering kits, and little bundles of fur. She smiled, but moved on. As she stuck her head in, she realized that this one was filled with middle-aged cats like herself. She nodded and moved on. The next den was filled with adult cats, and she backed away quickly. Going to the next den, she smelled herbs inside, mixed with a cat scent. "Hmm.." she whispered, peeking inside. It was a spacious den with many herbs and a few nests, but instead of exploring, she moved on again. This den was filled with frail cats. She nodded again and backed out. Going to the last den, she hesitated. Peeking in, she saw that there was only one cat inside. The she-cat was covered in scars (?) and Bellatrix nodded. "Leader..?" she whispered. There was a small movement behind her, and she turned around and gasped. There was a cat staring at her. Bellatrix slunk into the shadows, but the cat neared her. "N-No, I-I was j-just exploring, I swear!" she whimpered. She'd blown her cover somehow...Maybe she didn't disguise her scent?

"Exploring? Is that what it's called now? You're trespassing!" A black and white she-cat hissed, staring at the loner with piercing yellow eyes. Hackles raised and claws unsheathed, there was no holding Nightfoot back. She was ready to attack, especially since this strange cat managed to sneak past her at the entrance of the camp. What would Silentstar say if she found out that Nightfoot had been slack on the job? She was supposed to be watching out for trespassers like this and she let someone slip in! She was such a mousebrain... "Get out while you can, mousebrain, before I rip off all of your fur and stuff it in your mouth!" she snarled.

Bellatrix dipped her head and streaked out of the camp entrance. Sitting a good distance away from the camp, she tilted her head at Nightfoot. "What is this place called?" she asked curiously, looking at the she-cat. She sat on her perch on a boulder, exploring the barrier and tunnel with her eyes.

Knowing better than to just let the cat run out of camp, Nightfoot followed the stranger until she was outside of the camp. She probably should have gone farther, but this loner seemed to know better than to mess around with a clan cat. "This is Skyclan territory. All of this as far as the tall trees reach. This is your last warning," she hissed. "You stay out of these trees and off of the territory and we won't have any problems."

The black she-cat dipped her head, and turned to leave. "Is this called a camp? Where all of the cats live, I mean?" she asked quietly, padding away so the other cat wouldn't threaten her any more.

Digging her claws into the dirt, this cat was standing on Nightfoot's last nerve, but she didn't want to leave her post even though she wanted so badly to chase this cat until the sun came up. "That's none of your business, kittypet," She spat, not dropping her defensive stance for a second.

Bellatrix flicked her tail and turned, keeping an eye on Nightfoot. She disappeared into the forest.
