Whitekits apprentice ceremony

Spottedstar jumped atop the Highrock, calling her clan together. She waited for the clan to gather for a new apprentice

Whitekit stumbled out of the nursery, her usually fluffy fur now flat from her mother's excessive brushing. She felt skinny and exposed as she slowly made her way to the Highrock. She managed to find her way by following Spottedstar's voice and scent. After 6 moons the kit was finally adjusting to her blindness and making up for her lack of sight with an enhanced sense of smell and hearing.

The white she-kit paused at what seemed to be an appropriate distance away from the large rock and sat down, waiting for the leader to speak again.

"Whitekit, please step forward" she mewed, noting the kits blindness.

Whitekit carefully stood and took a step forward, her legs shaking from the pressure now dawning on her. Would she really make a good warrior? She is blind after all. Maybe the path of a medicine cat would be more fit for her. But wouldn't StarClan send a message if that was her destiny? The kit shook the thoughts out of her mind and tried to angle her head as if she was looking at the multi-colored cat. Of course, that didn't work very well, but she tried.

Ducksnap watched around and seated himself watching the high rock greatly interested, "Another apprentice." He said looking up at the rock to see who the mentor would be. His gaze kept looking over at the newly appointed apprentice soon to be.

"Whitekit, you have reached the age of 6 moons and are ready to begin your training. From now on until you recieve your warrior name, you shall be known as Whitepaw. Your mentor shall be Palegaze" Spottedfeather jumped from the Highrock and returned to her den.

Palegaze, whom had been sitting in the back of the crowd, came forward to meet the newly-named Whitepaw, a little surprised that he was getting an apprentice so soon after his warrior ceremony. He knew Whitekit was blind, but he also knew that where there was a will, there was a way.

"I'll teach you everything I know. I'm half blind, so I kind of get your troubles.. I guess." Palegaze's whiskers twitched in amusement. "It's a pleasure to be your mentor, Whitepaw," he purred, touching his nose to hers.

The newly appointed apprentice hesitantly touched noses with her mentor, but his soft tone calmed her down a little. So he was half-blind? At least he would understand the difficulties of blindness. That comforted Whitepaw as she greeted Palegaze as her mentor for the first time.

"I'm looking forward to learn everything you have to offer me." the she-cat mewed in response. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad..
