Lightningkit looked up from Coalheart's tummy and turned to his father. This cat smelled different. He smelled sort of like fish. Who is that cat? What's he here for? The newborn kit went to ask the strange cat some questions, but all that came out was a little squeak.

As lightningkit squeaked, Minnowflash awoke from his mournful sleep and cast his blue gaze to the grey and white kit. "I'm sorry I couldn't save your mother."

OOC: Here's an idea: Minnow commits suicide in a bit and then my TC char comes along and finds the kits. Is that ok?

Lightningkit's eyes widedened, and turned back to his mother. A faint smell of death was coming from Coalheart. After a bit, he found his mew. "M-my mo-moth-mother....g-gone?" he squeaked sadly. The newborn tried propelling himself over to Minnowflash. Lightningkit made it to his father and crouched by one of the RiverClan cat's feet. "A-are y-you m..my d-dad?" he asked, hoping the answer was yes. He might've been the only living family member besides his littermates they had.

Cloudkit stirred in her sleep as the heat which was emanating from her sibling Lightningkit left her. A tin mew peeped from her small pink and white mouth.

"I'm sorry, Lightningkit and yes I am your father. Your mother was called Coalheart and I am Minnowflash." The widowed father sighed before continuing. "See, I'm from RiverClan and..your mother was from ThunderClan.."

"I suspect so and that your mother wanted you to go to ThunderClan. I want Cloudkit to go to RiverClan but Cinderkit and Rainkit...I don't know." Minnowflash sighed sadly and glanced at the light grey and white kit rolling around her brother.

Lightningkit realized what would happen if he left Minnowflash. The gray kit curled himself even closer to his father. "I don't wanna leave you, Daddy!" he whimpered. He looked over at Cloudkit and ran over to her. Lightningkit hugged her with his paws for a moment, then let go of her. "Papa says he wants you to go to RiverClan, and I'd go to ThunderClan," he explained.

"You don't have to go to ThunderClan, at the end of the day it is your decision." Minnowflash lay down and smiled weakly at the kits.

Thin eyelids opened to reveal large, deep blue orbs. "I like the sound of both Clans, but I'll go to RiverClan." Cloudkit chirped as she adjusted to the new light.

Lightningkit waited awkwardly. Okay, so his mother died giving birth to him didn't understand what was so serious about it. He was just a kit, after all.

With his limbs getting tired Minnowflash lay down. "I don't mind if you go to ThunderClan or RiverClan, I just want to know your safe." He sighed.

On wobbly legs came Cloudkit. The fluffly kit flopped down next to her father and nudged him. "I wanna go to RiverClan! Fish are funny and I wanna learn how to swim." She chirped happily. Her father drew a tongue over her forehead and she nuzzled closer to him.

Lightningkit moved from Minnowflash's paw so his father could lay down. He trotted over to Cloud it's side and cuddled next to her. He didn't want to leave his sister and his dad.

The heartbroken Minnowflash bent over to give Lightningkit a lick over his forehead aswell before drifting into a light sleep, his senses alert for any cats that would try and take his kits away.
