Boredom of an Apprentice [Open]

Emberpaw rose early, desperate to explore the territory. She had yet to learn much of anything as an apprentice, being a new one. She was curious about what lay beyond the border of camp, and her curiosity couldn't be satisfied with a simple explanation.

Shallowpaw padded out of the den, yawning. "Hey, Emberpaw." he said boredly. "What'cha doing?"

"Trying to decide if I should go explore the territory. I want to, but I don't want to get in trouble," Emberpaw explained.

"I'd come with you," he meowed.

"Okay. But if we do get in trouble, I'll take the blame, after all it was my idea," Emberpaw mewed.

Shallowpaw nodded. He twitched his tail and looked back, asking if she'd follow. "Are you thinking of exploring by yourself, or are you wanting me to be a territory guide, since I know it pretty well?"

"A guide would be helpful," Emberpaw nodded, her tail twitching eagerly. "Let's go!"

Shallowpaw smiled and trotted out of camp. "So, what do you want to see first?" he asked.

"The river," Emberpaw replied, firmly. "I'm not sure why, but I want to see the river."

Shallowpaw laughed. "That's how I felt when I became an apprentice," he meowed. "Okay." He slowed down to a walk. "We'll be seeing a good portion of the territory, so we'll need to save our energy." he meowed.

"Alright. Is the territory really that big?" Emberpaw asked in amazement.

Shallowpaw nodded. "It is pretty big!" he explained. He heard rushing water in the distance. "Here we are!" he meowed.

Taking in the sight before her, Emberpaw couldn't think of anything to say. The river was beautiful.

Shallowpaw grinned at Emberpaw's expression. "Most of the cats I know looked like that when they first saw the river." he meowed.

"Can we go swimming?" Emberpaw inquired, curious as to whether this water was too dangerous.
