BRINGING THE DEAD BACK TO LIFE (2)

Since Thrushstripe was almost done training Snowpaw, Nightstar had decided to assign him yet another apprentice. It wasn't a bad thing, but he wasn't expecting one so soon. At least it gave him something to do. It kept his mind off of... Her. Trying his best not to think about it, he poked his head into the apprentice's den. "Cloudpaw, it's time for a border patrol." He called before stepping out and waiting on the apprentice, but he didn't want to wait too long, for the longer he sat there the more he began to fidget and twitch, ready to get moving.

Oh, Foxdung- Cloudpaw's head automatically shot up, and he looked around with wide amber eyes before remembering his surroundings. Right. He casually smoothed down some astray puffs of gray fur before finally understanding what Thrushstripe had said. "Finally." He mumbled under his breath, yet didn't try to conceal his excitement when he basically stumbled on his too big paws while walking out of the den.

When the apprentice finally made his appearance, Thushstripe jumped up with almost has much energy as Cloudpaw showed when he walked out of the den. Good. He could get moving. Keep himself busy. "Is there anywhere in particular you want to go first?" the deputy asked as he began to make his way out of camp. He tried to sound happy, but the cover wasn't all that great...

Cloudpaw shrugged, walking right beside the deputy. "I don't know, I've never really been out of camp." He answered, slightly embarrassed about the fact. Quickly pushing it aside, he looked over at his mentor with bright eyes. "Where is your favorite place to go? Where's it the most exciting?" He asked, the enthusiasm of a young kit obvious in his voice.

That was a very interesting question. It was actually a question that Thrushstripe hadn't really thought about before. "There is a difference between 'favorite' and 'most exciting,'" Thrushstripe told Cloudpaw quickly. If the apprentice wanted exciting, he might as well just take him to the Thunderpath. While it was probably the most dangerous, he was going to make sure that Cloudpaw stayed safe. "Here, how about I take you to the Thunderpath first? That should be exciting." So, the deputy took the apprentice towards the Thunderpath but stopped at the bushes that separated the territory from the nastiness that was the hard, black ground on the other side, and already it stunk. "Be extremely careful," he warned as he poked through the bushes to the other side.

Cloudpaw said nothing, but nodded with enthusiasm as his mentor led him towards the Thunderpath. He had heard many stories about it, but they were always the slightly untrue ones told to warn a kit away from danger. As they neared the dark path, Cloudpaw crinkled his nose in disgust. "Is that smell coming from the Thunderpath?" He questioned, pausing when he reached the bushes. Hesitantly, he stuck his head out, looking around- right as a giant... something... ran past him. He let out a (completely cool and totally not she-cat like) cry and jumped back, amber eyes wide.

"You need to watch yourself!" Thrushstripe snapped immediately as the monster rushed by without warning. As soon as the words came out of his mouth, the deputy quickly tried to calm down as his nerves were through the roof at the moment. Taking an apprentice out into danger like this around the Thunderpath. He couldn't stand it, but he needed to know the borders. "Yes," he said a bit more calmly. "That is the Thunderpath you smell. And the thing that just dashed by us? That was a monster. You need to be extremely cautious around this path, Cloudpaw. Those monsters are merciless. They don't stop for anything. Thankfully, they only stick to the Thunderpath so as long as you aren't on the hard black ground, you should be fine." He continued as he stared at the Thunderpath for a moment. The good news in his mind was that he had not had to deal with any deaths on the Thunderpath since before he could even remember. He just remembered hearing stories about his father's death on this dangerous path.

''I see a light...'' ''No you don't.'' ''But I'm dyin-'' ''You can't possibly be seeing a light.'' ''Why not?'' ''Because I stopped paying our electric bill. Next time, try not to leave on all the lamps when you leave.'' ''I didn't want our house to get robbed >:c'' ''Yes I'm sure everyone wants to rob a shoe-house where 4-inch-tall people live.''
