Snowpaw's Assessment

Spottedflight looked around in the mid-morning light for Snowpaw.  However, the apprentice wasn't anywhere to be seen.  Padding over to the apprentice den, she found Snowpaw there.  "Snowpaw, this is no time to be in your den.  Especially with what I've got planned! So get up,"  she mewed, before turning and flicking her tail impatiently as she waited for the apprentice.

Snowpaw woke up and brushed her fur out of her face. "What's so important?" she asked, before realising it was her assesment, "Oh. Coming!"

Spottedflight purred in amusement at the apprentice's sudden change in attitude. "I assume you've already figured this out, but today you'll have an assessment...Now, I know it's Leaf-Fall, but I want you to catch three pieces of prey before sunset." she mewed leading the way to the camp entrance, "Go ahead and get started.  I'll be along shortly to watch you;  though, you won't see me!"

"Alright," she said before heading out into the territory. She stopped at a clearing and tasted the air. A mouse was hiding behind a rock. She got into the hunting crouch and leapt onto the small rodent. She landed awkwardly on it, and it got away. "Mouse dung..." she muttered, hoping her mentor wouldn't hear her curse.

Spottedflight followed her apprentice after a few heartbeats, careful to stay downwind and under the cover of underbrush. She caught up in time to watch Snowpaw's first attempt. The lucky mouse got away, and the warrior seemed to frown. Oh well, the apprentice couldn't make Every catch, right? She got ready to move on when Snowpaw did.

Snowpaw smelled the air again. Not smelling any prey, she started walking east. She stopped at a clearing and heard some scratching, a hare was digging a hole. She leapt on it, biting its neck so it died. She buried the hare, and started walking north, towards the Thunderpath.

Spottedflight silently followed the apprentice, smiling as she watched her catch her prey. Though, she was a bit concerned as she began heading to the Thunderpath.

Snowpaw stopped about 20 tail-lengths from the Thunderpath and sniffed the air again. The scent from it was less strong from that distance. She heard a rustling from a bush nearby, a mouse was cleaning itself. She leapt on it and killed it effortlessly, burying it so her mentor could find it.

Snowpaw headed west this time, along the Thunderpath towards FourTrees. On her way she heard a rustling, a bird was trapped in the brambles. She leapt on it and killed it, putting it out of its misery. After that, she buried her third piece of prey and started heading back towards FourTrees.

Spottedflight followed and watched every kill her apprentice made, pleased with how well she was doing. After Snowpaw'd managed to hunt down three animals, the warrior revealed herself. "Good job, Snowpaw. Now let's go collect the prey. You can give it to the elders when we get back."
