Nightstar leaped on top of the Jaggedrock, holding her head high. "All cats old enough to catch their own prey, join here beneath the Jaggedrock for a clan meeting." Her call echoed through out camp. Surely reaching every cat's ears. As the cats started pouring out of their dens, she kept a look out for the one this meeting was about.

Ravenpaw casually came out, and took her spot beneath the Jagged Rock. She looked around for the excited eyes of the one she could figure out with basic knowledge it would be their ceremony. With not muh luck as being a big clan, Ravenpaw looked upwards to Nightstar.

The last few days had been an agonizing wait for Mintkit, who saw her apprentice ceremony approaching with each shift of the sun and with the falling of every leaf, as leaf-bare was almost upon them all. She spent her time alone, avoiding her denmates in an attempt to find peace, although with the knowledge of the coming change in her life, prickling at her paws, it was only in vain. She knew that she was ready to become an apprentice; the blood of the ancient warriors that flowed through her veins was proof of it. And she was prepared--eager, even--to move into the apprentice den and perhaps get to know the other apprentices, and to train with whomever became her mentor. She was going to be a ShadowClan warrior, and she wasn't afraid of what path she'd have to walk to get there.

So why was she shaking, as if anxious, when she heeded Nightstar's summons, for what could only be what she had been waiting for? She nearly stumbled as she made her way into the clearing, not sparing a glance for her leader should she betray something she didn't want to. Sitting down closest to the Jaggedrock and mindful of why she did, Mintkit busied herself by grooming. The especially fluffy kit fur that had covered her body had nearly disappeared, making room for a smoother, although equally long dark grey coat that better insulated her from the cold. She could see, with no small amount of irritation, however, that her paws were shaking as they ran across her ears. Her whiskers twitched nervously as she surveyed the growing number of cats gathering beneath the Jaggedrock.

Are...Are you proud of me, mother?, she asked, eyes raising to gaze at the silverpelt, which was shining brightly against the blackness of the sky. I'll be a warrior soon, just like you.

Suddenly she was overcome by a wave of warmth, and the young kit gave herself the first honest smile she had given since her mother had passed. No longer nervous for what might come, Mintkit's eyes rose to her leader, and she waited for Nightstar to begin.

Nightstar watched the to-be apprentice, wondering if she made the right choice for a mentor for the umpteenth time. The leader closed her eyes and called down, "Mintkit. Please step forward." Nightstar opened her blue eyes again, as she waited for the kit to walk to the front so the ceremony could begin.

Mintkit was prepared; she had watched other apprentice ceremonies, after all--she knew what she was supposed to do. But still she inhaled sharply as she was beckoned to the front, and the eyes turned toward her. The anxiety suddenly burst within her again, making Mintkit shiver. Could she deny that she was a little nervous...? ShadowClan warriors didn't get nervous. It was true that she wasn't quite there yet, but still. It was in her blood. Would her mother fault her for being nervous? Mintkit didn't think so, but then again, she had never been in this situation before. She had always been straightforward and decisive. When her mother was alive, she never had second thoughts. She knew that someone, no matter what anyone else thought, would stand beside her. Now, Mintkit knew that not to be true. But no one would even start to respect her if she didn't at least act confidant, Mintkit convinced herself, and so she stepped forward with conviction.

"Okay," she murmured in response to Nightstar, although with how softly she said it the affirmation could have been more for herself.

She met the gazes of her clanmates unflinchingly, and weaved through the crowd to stand at the base of the Jaggedrock.

Nightstar looked down at the kit. For a long moment she stayed silent, then quickly changed her mind on the mentor. "Mintkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Mintpaw. Your mentor will be Gingerheart. I hope Gingerheart will pass down all he/she knows on to you."

The leader turned her head towards her friend. "Gingerheart, you are ready to take on an apprentice. You had received excellent training from Feathersong, and you have shown yourself to have confidence and Wisdom. You will be the mentor of Mintpaw, and I expect you to pass on all you know to her."

As soon as the two touched noses, Nightstar waved her tail in dismissal, indicating that the ceremony has been finished.
