Spottedkit's Apprentice Ceremony

Mossstar sighed, slipping out of his den into the shining sunlight. He turned and leapt to the top of Highrock and yowled, loud and clear "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath Highrock for a Clan meeting!"

Spottedkit padded out of the nursery, licking her chest fur. Today was the day she became an apprentice! She started toward Highrock.

Mossfur was sun bathing when she heard the call. She stretched and yawned before getting up. "Another apprentice? Who will the mentor be?" She padded towards High Rock and spotted Spottedkit. She smiled at her for this was her special day.

Dewclaw moved to sit by Mossfur. "I'll bet you it'll be the cat with the least apprentices." She looked at the apprentice-to-be, noting her excitement. "Whoever gets her might have their paws full."

Spottedkit looked to see Mossfur and Dewclaw and padded over to them. "Hi guys." she chirped, obviously excited.

"We'll Mosstar really has been busy." Mossfur purred. She settled down on her spot and waited for the others.

Mossstar smiled a little then meowed "Spottedkit, please step forward." As he waited he was thinking about who her mentor could be. Dewclaw and Mossfur had their hands full, and he himself was almost overwhelmed with apprentices. That only left one warrior.

Mossfur watched with a smile on her face. "Who will be the mentor?" She wondered again. She already had two but she had heard Mosstar had 4! "I could still take another..." She began.

Dewclaw gave a snort. "I doubt either of us could. Don't worry, though. Mossstar knows what he's doing." She whispered this so that she wouldn't disturb the ceremony.

Spottedkit gave a final lick to her chest and padded up next to the leader.

Mossfur thought Whitefoot would get this apprentice. Honeypaw did seen kind of sad lately... "Whitefoot will probably mentor her." She whispered to Dewclaw.

Mossstar then raised his head a little after watching the kit come forward. Then he meowed, "Spottedkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Spottedpaw. Your mentor will be Whitefoot. I hope Whitefoot will pass down all he knows on to you." As he finished he whispered to Spottedpaw "Go touch noses with Whitefoot."

Spottedpaw passed back down the Highrock and went up to the bigger cat. Slowly she touched noses with him.

"Looks like you were right. Spottedpaw! Spottedpaw! Spottedpaw!" Dewclaw started the cheer for the newly name apprentice, pleased with the recent growth of the Clan.
