Spidersong: The-Two Faced Warrior Spidersong__Two_Faced_Warrior_by_CreepyMushroom

Spidersong had always been different. From his scrawny, ruffled looks to his quiet, out-of-the-way personality. He was kind, but was always overshadowed by his prodigy littermates, Smolderedkit and Arrowkit. They could do no wrong, while Spiderkit was the embodiment of mistakes. How could a kit such as him compare to his perfect brother and sister? He couldn't. Spiderkit's mother tried as much as was possible to protect her kits, especially Spiderkit. The tom's father couldn't have cared less for him. One night, however, things changed.

A mental condition known as Dissociate Identity Disorder is a good place to start. Spidersong had it. He had one alternate personality, who called himself Recluse. While Spidersong was meek and submissive, Recluse was cruel and outlandish. He easily took over the small Spiderkit's mind for that one night. The night Spidersong's sister, Arrowkit, was murdered.

That night, Recluse posing as Spiderkit, lured his sisters into the windswept lands of their territory. The rest is history, as Smolderedkit fled into RiverClan land, and Recluse returned to the nursery. The clan knew not of his actions, only that Arrowkit was dead, and Smolderedkit missing. Throughout his apprenticeship, Spiderpaw reverted into a mental blockade against his clanmates. He knew what he had done, and the guilt ate away at him so much, that it took three moons longer than usual for him to earn his warrior name.

On the day of his naming ceremony, Spidersong was more ashamed than proud, but he felt the constant fear of Recluse slowly fading into his subconscious. However, now that his guards were low, Recluse re-emerged, taking the life of his mother, and finally cutting off all relations to his other half.

After that, Spidersong closed himself off completely to other cats. Fear, guilt, and sorrow became the emotional barrier, his shield. However, moons passed swiftly, letting the shock of the deceased she-cat die down, and once again, killings occurred within WindClan camp overnight without anyone discovering the culprit. Finally, WindClan's leader decided to put a stop to it. He organized guard parties to watch over the camp in turns. Every warrior, though few they were, would be put into a small group to keep an eye out for the threat.

Spidersong, reluctant as he was, was put into the second watch group, along with a she-cat who oddly enough, caught his eye.

Her name was Kestrelflock, though Spidersong had never noticed her before. At the first chance she got, she struck up a conversation with the weary tomcat. She had heard of his family's demise and sympathized with him, though, admittedly, was lacking any kind of personal tragedy of her own. Spidersong couldn't help but give in to the she-cat's innocent chats.

As time passed, he grew close with Kestrelflock, and soon, Spidersong had developed a crush. Recluse had willingly backed off the killings for now as not to get caught, sure that fear had been effectively instilled in the hearts of the clanners. Each feared for their lives every time they lay down to sleep. Still, the world had never been brighter in Spidersong's eyes. When Kestrelflock admitted that she harbored feelings for the tom, things couldn't have been better, but they were about to get much worse.

Weeks later, a kit, having strayed all the way from RiverClan, turned up dead within WindClan boundaries. The WindClan cats were becoming frantic, and, although patrols were sent out frequently and thoroughly, no threat could be found. Tensions between the two clans grew when a patrol sent from RiverClan discovered the body. One of the cats, Smolderedheart, however, seemed to see similarity in this killing and the one long ago during her kithood. She knew the murderer was her brother, Spidersong.

While the patrol was brought to WindClan camp by a WindClan patrol, the she-cat managed to give her brother a message. To meet her by the gorge in RiverClan to finish things.

And so, Spidersong obliged to his sister's demands, but not before thinking long and hard about the situation. When he finally came up with a decent plan of action, the tom woke Kestrelflock the night that he had to leave. In one brief period, he told her of Recluse, of the truth behind the murders, and of his plans for that night. Needless to say, Kestrelflock didn't know what to say.

He left her in camp, racing out toward RiverClan's Gorge, an older and wiser cat.

His meeting with Smolderedheart wasn't pleasant. She told him that she planned to kill him there, in her new clan's territory, and that she would avenge her family's deaths. Her unyielding scorn for him left Spidersong with no real time to explain himself like he had to Kestrelflock. Recluse wasn't about to let a she-cat end his life, though. So, a three way fight began, between Smolderedheart, Spidersong and Recluse. Although, soon enough, it became a straight out fight for control in Spidersong's mind.

The struggle was more difficult than Spidersong had ever imagined, even know that his will was stronger. It surprised him, but it surprised him more when Kestrelflock showed up.

In a final look at his first and only friend and love, he managed to tell her to return to the camp and tell them who was responsible for the chaos among their clan.

With that last instruction, the tom edged nearer to the edge of the gorge, and, with a sorrowful, yet content expression, fell from the cliff top. No one could stop him.

----------------------------------------

The earth left his paws, and, although he was sure that Recluse was attempting to slaughter him in the last moments of their existence, Spidersong never bothered with a final word to his other half. He was too busy staring at the form of a sleek, strong-looking she-cat, her face that of a younger, healthier version of his mother. She was padding toward him, her eyes clouded with an array of emotion, and his heart swelled in his chest. Suddenly, the tomcat was washed over by exceeding warmth, lapping at his fur like the gentle stroke of a loving tongue.

He felt himself breath in and out, relieved. He felt it now, that sense of accomplishment, like he'd done something truly worthwhile. So perhaps he had made a difference for his clan.

The warm waves continued to draw him into the loving gaze of his mother, and his sister gazed at him with understanding that far surpassed that of such a young kit. He felt as light as a feather, and as strong as he'd ever been. But most importantly, he knew he'd finished it himself.

And In the end, that was enough.
