Viva la Apprentice Patrol~

Nightwing sat at the entrance of the camp, waiting for her apprentices to drag themselves out of their den. As she waited, the deputy thought of her former apprentice, Fallencloud. A lump formed in her lungs as the warrior came to her thoughts. Nightwing looked to the glittering night sky. 'Are you watching now?'

A form appearing from the den drew her attention away from Silverpelt, and into the present. Her tail wrapped around her paws contently. They were going on a boarder patrol, all the while, working on important skills.

Shadepaw opened his eyes and blinked. He yawned, his muscles really sore, and padded outside. "What are we doing today NightWing?" the black tom asked excitedly. "I can't wait!"

Darkpaw padded out, fur ruffled and tail tip twitching. "Hey there Nightwing." She had slept all day while the sun was out- she wasn't that tired anymore. She watched Shadepaw with bored yellow orbs. Yeah, you can wait...you are right now.

Nightwing purred happily at her apprentices' sudden appearance. "We'll be doing training today." Her voice bright with amusement, why else would she call them over? "Although, we have to wait for one more cat..." The deputy mewed, casting a patient glance at the den.

ic: Nightwing nodded and hulled herself to her paws and nodded to her apprentices to let them know to follow. "We have alot of subjects to go through! So keep up!" The deputy bounced and led the way out of the came they have been o so long stuck in. The she-cat's thoughts were dragged to her first time out of camp. How long a go that seemed! Thinking about it kinda made her feel...Old. Nightwing shook her head. 'I refuse to be old!' Then she picked up the pace, first heading towards the WindClan border.

Darkpaw raced after her mentor, doing her best not to stumble because of what was in the territory. Just keep running, just keep running... The black she-cat finally stopped, nose twitching. "What's that smell?" she asked, staring at the nearby border. "It smells awful."

The she-cat slowed to a stop, and tossed her head in the direction of the scent. "That is the Thunderpath. After the Thunderpath is WindClan. We are downwind today, let's see if you can taste their sent." Nightwind halted a few fox lengths away from the dark path. Her blue gaze scanning the border, before marking a bunch of taller grass. "Their scent" She mewed, as she finished. "Smells like grass and heather, Although I am not sure your nose can pick it up quite yet."

"It's hard to smell, but I can kinda pick it up, I think. It's...weird. I like the smell of frogs better." Darkpaw mewed, glancing at her mentor. "How come every clan smells different from one another?" she asked after a few moments, turning her yellow gaze back towards Nightwing. It didn't really make sense to the apprentice.

Shadepaw followed Nightwing's instructions and sniffed the air eagerly, but almost immediately recoiled. "Bleh!" she mewed in disgust. "The other clans smell so...... different!" Shadepaw wrinked her nose. "Oh well," she mewed. "I smell..... undergrowth? Is that ThunderClan territory?" she asked curiously. "I want to learn more about all the clans! Like how did they first form, how come they smell like they do and... and..." she trailed off, lost in thought.

Nightwing turned her head towards the scent of WindClan. The smell of heather wafted down towards the small patrol. "No, that is WindClan. We border WindClan a smaller amount then we do ThunderClan. But that is over there." She tossed her head over to where ThunderClan's territory laid.

The deputy pondered for a moment, before turning to Darkpaw. "Well, why do we smell like frogs, and marsh?" He question floated around. Hopefully, the apprentice's would pick up what she was implying. They smelt like that because of what they had in their territory. Also depending what creatures existed in their neck of the woods.

Thank you, answer a question with a question... Darkpaw thought. She took a deep breath and thought for a minute; "That's what we have in our territory. But still, how come every territory is different? It would be more effective if we all had the same kind."

Shadepaw bounced excitedly. "Maybe it's because we wouldn't get mixed up with the other clans!" he mewed. "I wouldn't want to smell the same as another clan! ShadowClan is unique! We're awesome! That's why I like us smelling different."

"We are all different cats, Darkpaw." The deputy mewed, turning so they started towards the ThunderClan border. Once Nightwing thought the silent moment was long enough, she continued. "We all have different needs, and different ways of living. Having different territories makes us Unique, like what Shadepaw said." The mentor explained.

A few more moments of only foot steps and splashes, until the deputy stopped in her tracks. Her black ears tilted to their right. A faint ribbit was able to reach the cat's ears. The moment, in Nightwing's opinion was perfect. 'I suppose we could start now.' Slowly, the deputy turned to the apprentices. In a quiet voice, the she-cat mewed: "Alright, who wants to hunt?"
