Prologue

Sunshine filtered through the walls of the GorseClan nursery. Screeches of pain echoed through the camp. A stocky jet black tom paced impatiently outside. "How much longer Wingflower?" he kept on asking. The clear colored she cat shot him another scowl as she continued her work.

After many hours of wait the news was given. The tragic news that only two out of the five kits survived, and the mother had sadly joined StarClan along with her three kits. The jet black tom barged past and burried his muzzle in his dead mates flank. His two remaining kits lay innocently by the stomach of Hailstream, the other queen in the nursery who's kits were outside.

"You were never meant to be alive...." he spat at them. "You should have died with the others!"

Hailstream snarled at the grief crazed father and tucked the newborn kits closer. With one more look of hatred, the jet black tom stalked off. And Hailstream ended up naming the kits Mistkit and Shadowkit.

OOC- Yes but no rude comments. I also don't want this thread being loaded with reviews. Its about the story, not the comments. Keep in mind I don't expect this to be the best story on this website. This is just something fun for me to work on when I'm bored. Thankyou! Satisfied

Chapter 1

The morning they opened their eyes was both an exciting one and a sad one. The first was Shadowkit.Started as a normal blue as all kits did, but changed into a piercing blue, just like his father. The upsetting thing was Shadowkit was a mirror of his father, yet smaller of course. His father, who still rejected them and refused to be known as their parent. Mistkit opened her eyes soon after. Started blue, turned a foresty green which were the same as her mothers. Now, being reminded of his dead mate, her father scowled every time he looked into his daughters eyes. "Don't worry kits. He crazed with grief over your mother. He'll be a loving and caring father soon," Hailstream assured. But she doubted it herself. It had been almost a whole moon since Greypetal's death, and Jetcloud still treated his kits like they were meant to be dead. It was strange. So the young queen continued raising the kits as if they were her own.

Mistkit was just like her mother. She hated the sight of blood, so that meant no hunting or fighting for her. She didn't like the feeling of flesh between her claws. It made her feel uncomfortable and run away. She seemed to just trail off into her own land of thoughts. Hailstream thought she should become a medicine cat apprentice. Wingflower agreed. Shadowkit kept urging her to try it. But Mistkit was stubborn. She didn't think it was right, though everyone else did.

Shadowkit on the other hand was big. He grew like a weed Hailstream would say. His broad shoulders and big paws and claws showed a great warrior. He was already as big as Hailstreams kits and loved to play wrestle with them instead of his scaredy mouse sister. He was meant to be a leader lots would say. Shadowkit could just imagine it himself. Shadowstar, leader of GorseClan, standing up on the VineRock with his fur flowing in the wind as he shared the latest news with his clan. His Clan.

Instead of leading his clan, he was stuck in the nursery watching Floralkit and Waterkit tumble in the rain outdoors and Mistkit fiddle with grass. Shadowkits shoulders slumped. Being a kits no fun. He couldn't wait for apprenticeship. Going out every morning for patrols and every afternoon for training. He wouldn't even mind if he had to collect moss! Even that was better than being a kit. But then something interrupted him from his thoughts. A familiar smell wafted by. Wait a minute.......

Jetcloud came stalking in the nursery, a rabbit dangling from his jaws. He dropped it at Hailstreams paws. His father may hate them, and the memory of the nursery, but was still a loyal warrior who would serve queens, kits, and elders first. Jetcloud then stalked off, not even waiting for the "thankyou" from Hailstream which came after he raced out the door.
