The Acropolis

The sound of horses' hooves thundered through the small village. It was so sudden; men on these horses came with torches. They threw them at our small homes, homes our fathers and grandfathers build with their own hands. They took my mommie, my daddie. They killed poppop.
Then they took me to the Acropolis...

In a time when the continent of Orion was being taken over by the evergrowing empire Emille, the small country of Sylvia was going through an economic crisis. At this time, the empire's armies attacked. They burnt the villages down, imprisoned the men and women, and killed the elderly. They took children, though, and had a new idea for them. Building a makeshift city, they dumped all the captured youth into it; an acropolis which topped a large hill. If they were weak, they'd be killed by the creatures that lurked at night. The wicked, vile demons that hid in the forest just to escape light. If they survived, and were old enough, they'd be taken by officials that came once a decade, and took them away to become slaves.

The Acropolis has no name. People predicted the children would have been dead within a week. However, 2 months after they were dumped, most still remain...
