Nightkit is alone, or IS she???

Nightkit looked confused. she could see no one around her, it was just an empty, sleepy camp. "Where is everyone...", she mewed quietly. A twig cracked behind her, but the creature hid before she could see it. Nightkit felt too nervous to stay there and moved closer to the Elder's Den. The snores of at least one elder soothed her.

Leafstorm came out, looking for the kit.

Nightkit blended with the deep shadows. Except for her leaf-green eyes.

"Nightkit!" Leafstorm called. "Time to sleep!" She sniffed the air.

She was startled by the sudden call of her mother."Eep!!", Nightkit dashed behind the Elder's den.

Leafstorm heard the cry. "Who's there?"

Finnaly, Nightkit recongnized her mothers' voice. "It's Me!", she called.

"There you are."

Nightkit bounded up to her mother and told her about the mysterious animal. "It was behind me, but it stepped on a twig an ran away!"

"Of course it did." Leafstorm said, playing along.

"I saw it go behind that fallen tree over there..", She pointed with her tail to a moss-covered log at the edge of camp. It smelled sour, and the creature had left a small feather on a bit of jagged bark.

Leafstorm smelled the rock. "Smells like a bird," She said.

"It made this huge shadow!", Nightkit mewed, bounding toward her on light paws.
