The Star Gazers: Wolves: Wolfspirits

Chapter 1

As Hunter and Tora returned to thier den from hunting, they paused. They sensed something was wrong. Where there was normally alot of noise coming from thier friend's nearby den, they could hear nothing. They burried thier catch - a squirel and a rabbit - near thier den, and went to investigate.
They found all thier nearby friends gathered in a circle arround a big rock that was flat at the top, big enough for a wolf to stand on. Hunter and Tora padded up to them. "Whats going on?" Tora asked another she-wolf, Pheonix.
"The Great Wolf has sent a sign that he will appear to us loners here, tonight." Pheonix whispered back. Hunter scanned the circle of loner Wolves, noticing that all the nearby loners were there, including thier close, but secretive friends, Gale and Zanna.
As the moon rose high in the sky, Tora noticed it was a Full Blue moon tonight. When the moon was at it's highest point, a stray ray of moonlight shone upon the rock infront of them. A starry gray wolf appeared in the ray of Moonlight, and said, "I am the Great Wolf." Then he howled.

Chapter 2
"Fear me not for I am here to give you a messege. The time has come for great battle amongst all the wolves loner and Pack. Much blood will be spilt and unexpected enimies will arise. The Fang of Myra has the answers which you seek. Go forth and speek with Myra to help you defeat the enimie. Life and Death will fight eachother and determine the outcome." The wolf disapeared and they all sat in silence. Zanna was the first to speek," what should we do?!" She called out to her fellow loners. "We find the Fang of Myra and speek to her. Life has to win so we can have peace!" Gale and Zanna growled, but they were drowned out by the howls from the other wolves. Tora, Hunter, and the others went to their dens and fell asleep. Hunter had dreams of Gale and Zanna with blood on their muzzles and paws. A great Dark wolf battled a great Light wolf. The dream ended before they could determine they winner. We have to find that Myra or all of Dark Pack will break loose!

Chapter 3

The next moring, Tora and Hunter called a Loner Meeting. Loners from all around came. Tora told them what The Great Wolf had said, and Hunter told them of his dreams. It was decided that the 8 Loners that had been there when The Great Wolf had come, would go. That was Tora, Hunter, Zanna, Gale, Scipio, Pheonix, Hannibal, and Romina. Tora and Hunter were chosen to lead the mission, and they were preparing to go, when Zanna came over.
"Hey guy. Congrats on being chosen to lead the mission." she said, in a fake happy voice, though Tora and Hunter didn't detect her true feelings, that she was boiling with rage. She hid her emotions well, and continued on.
"I was wondering if Gale and I could Beta for the mission and take over if something should happen to you, or you need to leave for a second." Zanna said.
"Of course!" said Hunter. "You ARE our closest friends." he said as he licked Zanna's head. "Now, we must prepare. Dissmissed." Hunter said, as he and Tora stripped thier prey's fur off and cleaned them to make coats and bags for supplies.
Zanna padded off, back to her den, and found Gale in the den. "We are now Beta for this mission, and we would HAVE to become leader of thi mission, if something were to happen to the two of them..." her eyes glittered with blood-lust. "We must plan what to do with them."
"Shall we leave them for the hunters, or the bears?" asked Gale.
"Lets let them decide..." hissed Zanna, as she padded out of the den with Gale on her tail...

Chapter 4
They left the next morning with the other loners calling after them good luck. Hunter and Tora walked at the front while Zanna and Gale brought up the back. "We have to get rid of them." Zanna whispered to Gale as they passed by several large rocks that shaded them only tempariaroly. "I think we should wait until tonight to figure out the plan." Gale whispered back. "There's a chane we need help, with these other goodies following them." Zanna nodded.

That night they slept in the roots of the trees of the forest next to them. The moon was half tonight. Zanna and Gale waited for the others to fall asleep before walking a little ways into the forest. They bowed their heads and spoke in whispy voices that sounded of those of old spirit wolves. "We call upon our fellow Blood-sheds for help to stop this journey and to help us stop them." Gale spoke in a voice that would've chilled a wolf watching to the death. "Thy request makes sense young Gale. What do ye seek?" Replied the misty voice from the trees. "We seek the guidence to show us how to stop this patrol." Zanna growled a little irratated, her whisper almost rising to a howl. "Why do ye seek this?" Gale looked up and watched the great spirit of Nazoni Netal descending into their little clearing. "The evil will let us rule if we stop it." Zanna said. "They will reck chaos all over. We will rule the forest and will be Alphas of all wolves!! Loners or Packs!!!!" Zanna actually howled this time, Gale joined in at the last few words. The howl ended, and Hunter woke.

Chapter 5

Hunter padded over the source of the howl, alone. He looked about a clearing, with a large tree in it. He sniffed. Zanna and Gale had been here. Why? he thought. He lay down beneth the tree and fell asleep.

When Gale and Zanna were sure that Hunter was asleep, the padded out and stared down at the tom wolf. "We must get rid of him now." Zanna hissed.
"But, we were gonna get rid of them later!" protested Gale.
"But we may never have a chance like this again!" Zanna growled. She padded over to the tree and put a paw on it. The roots opened up and reveiled an old and grizzly face. "Of what assistance may i be, to Mistress Zanna?" drawled the old tree.
"We are in need of a place to keep our captive. May we keep him here?" hissed Zanna.
"Of cource ye can, Mistress Zanna." said the tree, as he opened up his roots and revieled a small room. Zanna and Gale pushed Hunter in the room and Hunter awoke with a start.
"Gale! Zanna! Whats happening?" he said, startled. When he saw the looks on thier faces, he knew what happened. "Why?" he whispered. The the tree closed it's roots.

"Keep him fed and watered, but just with fruits and such. We will need him alive, but tamed for our purposes." said Zanna. "We will need him as... shall we say... Leverage." she grinned. "Also, have him build us a den. We will need to stop by once in a while to check up on him."
Gale winced as he heard of his once good friend's fate. But it'll all be worth it! he told himself. To be leader of all packs AND loners!
And with that thought in mind, Gale and Zanna left to return to the others.

Chapter 6
When Gale and Zanna returned, the others had just started to wake. "What happened to Hunter?" Tora asked when she was fully awake. Gale looked at Zanna. "We thought he was here?" Zanna said with a fake puzzled expresion, she pretened to look sleepy as if she had really slept here all night. The others looked at eachother all shaking their heads in puzzlement.

Later that day they trekked through marshy lands and stopped for the night in a small land that was dry. "I'll take first watch" Tora said looking around at the sleepy faces of her patrol. As she sat there Zanna and Gale silently walked off to a small forest that fit one land similar to the one the others slept on. Gale looked uneasy as he spoke saying, "Zanna, how should we get rid of Tora?" Zanna thought for a moment when she heard a growl from the trees. Her and Gale turned to face the stalker. "You are not welcome here." The stalker's face was in the trees, the eyes glowed and the voice told them it was a cyote. "Why are you here?" Zanna asked with a growl. "I live here. I hope to anialate you and claim my territory." Zanna laughed a short gravely laugh. "Why sir," She said ",we have only come to pass through. If you like you can join us on our quest." The cyote growled. "Why?" Zanna went into great detail about what they were doing and how he could benafit. The cyote looked at each of them, "I'm game." He grumbled.

Chapter 7

The cyote's name was Dusk, and he would help Zanna and Gale in exchange for a safe plot of land for cyotes. Zanna and Gale nodded, and told him what to say when they got back to camp. "We will need to lead the somewhere, where we can trap Tora, without being noticed or caught by the others..."
"I know just the place..." growled the cyote.

As Gale, Zanna, and Dusk came to camp, the others aked why Dusk was there.
"He knows a way to get to the Fang of Myra quickly!" Zanna said. No one dissagreed, and so they set off again, with no idea that they were heading into a trap.

When Hunter awoke the next morning, he found his coat caked with mud. He shook himseld and bumped his head on a tree root. The cieling was very low in here.
"Hey, watch it!" said a grumbly voice, that came from the tree. "That hurts you know."
"Why are you helping them?" Hunter growled.
The tree sighed. "If you really wanna know, we trees are in debt to Lord Gale and Mistress Zanna. They did us a favor, and do in return, we will give them our undying gratitude and service." The tree opened a small scrack in his roots, and pushed in some berries. "Eat." the tree said.
"No." growled Hunter.
"This is all you will be eating, so you better get a taste for it..." the tree said. It filled a hollowed rock with water and gave it to Hunter. It then closed its roots, and Hunter was once more engulfed in darkness.

Chapter 8
Dusk walked alongside Gale and Zanna. Tora walked at the front with Scipio. "So Dusk, where is it you're leading us?" Zanna asked. Dusk growled, "well we have to look like we're headed for the Fang of Myra, so I think we should go through the forest of the Everliving trees. They may have some ideas."

They trekked long and hard through grassy moorlands hunting wild rabbits and other things that lived there. They also crossed a large gray forest full of lurking shadows where you could eaisily here growls and hisses, the ground gradually sloped downwared and what they saw was beautiful. The valley was full of lush green grass and you could see the mountians in the distance. The deer and antelope bounced aroun at the bottom of the valley, and a deep cut gorge ran through out the dip. The mountians held a dark cave easily seeable from its darkness, there was a slight glowing on the inside that grew brighter with time. Past the valley, the land sloped upward and to a magestic forest full of beautiful green trees that stood taller than any tree ever known. The leaves rustled in the gentle breeze which seemed to give off a faint chatter. All the wolves gasped at the beauty and then they slowly descended and hunted their first full meal in days.

Hunter woke up the next day growling as he tried to stand up again but remembered he was in a tree. He lapped up the water from the rock and slowly ate the fruits that were there. He scratched at the ground for somehting to do when the tree roost opened and in slipped a tindy leaf with a strange scent.
"What is this?" He growled to the tree. "It is to keep you completly healthy. Wolves are not meant for a diet of just water and fruits. The herb in front of you is sour and sweet and will keep you healthy for the rest of the 7 sunrises. Count on me slipping another one in 7 sunrises from now." Hunter grumbled but ate the leaf.

Chapter 9

As the wolves finished off their meals, Zanna and Gale slipped off into the Forest of Everliving Trees. They padded on aways and into a large clearing, where the largest tree in the world stood. They bowed their heads. "Please, Great Elder, show us the way to get rid of Tora." Zanna said. An image flickered next to the tree. It was a picture of a rocky wall with many caves in it. One cave had a rock covering it. A tree had pushed it out the way, and the vision showed Zanna and Gale shoving Tora in the cave, and the tree releasing the rock and putting the rock back in place.
“Where can we find such a place?” questioned Gale. Now the image showed Myra, Gale, Tora, and the others heading north, to the ocean. Next to the ocean was the rocky wall with caves in it. “Thank you, Great Elder.” said Zanna, as she and Gale bowed their heads and then slinked off to join the rest of the group.

As the wolves continued on thier journey, Tora grew more and more worried. "What would keep him this long?" she would ask, but no one had an answer that they would reveil, anyways.
They soon came upon the ocean and the rocky wall of cliffs. They all found a cave in the rock wall that was big and sheltered enough for all the wolves. As they settled down for sleep, Zanna and Gale padded over to Tora, and pulled her outside the cave. "Come with us." Zanna hissed. Tora stared at her wide eyed, but followed them.
They soon came upon the cave that had been showed in the Great Elder's vision. Gale and Zanna shoved Tora inside, and Tora let loose a howl, before being cut off and plunged into darkness because Zanna had put a paw on the tree holding the rock, and the tree gave way and released the rock, covering the opening.

As Hunter awoke, his stomach growled. He needed meat. His stomach didn't want these disgusting berries. He howled, telling the tree of his pain and suffereing, of his longing for his mate, and the need for meat, but the tree stayed indifferant. "Mistress Zanna said only to feed you berries, and thats what you'll be fed." the tree growled.
The tree soon wound his roots around Hunter's ankles and muzzle, preventing escape and preventing him to call for help. The tree then set Hunter to work, building a den for Zanna and Gale, for thier return. When Hunter slowed down, or took a rest, the tree would lash him with a branch to keep him going. Soon, Hunter's pelt was caked with blood, and there was a beautiful den next to the tree that held Hunter captive. It then pulled him back into the room in it's roots, and refilled the rock with water and pushed in more berries. But, though Hunter didnt know it, these berries were making him forget how to speak properly in Wolf tounge and be more gullible to do whatever the tree, Zanna, or Gale told him to do. As Hunter gulped down the berries, he tried to speak, but found he couldn't form the words. He whined and howled, but couldn't remember how to speak. He whined once more, and curled up into a ball, and slept.

Chapter 10
Gale and Zanna made their way back to the sleeping cave, planning what they were to tell the others. As they walked in the heard a growl and Scipio lunged at Gale. Gales jumped out of the way and Scipio nearly slipped into the water. "What have you done with Tora?" He growled clawing his way up. Gale thought and Zanna spoke for this is not what they planned. "We do not know of what you speek." Zanna said. "Then where is Tora?" Scipio growled getting more impatient. "We thought Tora went looking for food?" Gale said with mock inocence. Scipio took a runinng head start but instead of bowling into Gale or Zanna he jumped onto the cliff yowling for Tora.

The cave was dark and there was no food to eat. She heard water dripping and tried to find the source, but she couldnt find one.
"Here," grumbled a voice ", this will help calm you." Out of the darkness slipped a rock filled with water and some berries. Tora drank but when she saw the berrie's she sniffed. "Where is the meat?" She called into the darkness. "Mistress Zanna said no meat." The darkness grumbled back. Tora sniffed again but ate the berries.

The wolves travled for long and they passed large rocky cliffs, and deep cut gorge's. Then one day Pheoni let out a yelp and shook her paw. "What is it?" Zanna asked, annoyed. "This." Pheonix said pointing to the round object hard and cooled, but never seen by wolves. The object had a smaller roundness in it with grass poking through and had something on it that the wolves couldnt read: Ζαν. "What is tha-" Romina got cut off by yowling in the distance, then loud bang's. The wolves darted into cover and watched the things come from a nearby den made of leaves weaved together it was hard to tell were a leaf met. "Πήγαν με αυτόν τον τρόπο!!" One of them yowled heading toward a cave.

Hunter woke the next morning tierd and hurting all over, he opened his eyes to find the water and berries. He ate in silence for he nolonger spoke in wolf. He heard something approching. He looked through the roots and saw long pink things. "Hey down here!!" He yowled. The thing leaned down. "Who's there?" The thing asked. "I'm Hunter!!" He called back. "I am a loner wolf." The thing jumped back. "If you're a wolf," the thing asked couriosly ", then why do I understand you?"

As Scipio awoke, he felt his head hurting. It was pounding. As he put a paw to his head, he could feel a warm and sticky liquid sticking to his paw. It was blood.
Not too bad. he thought. I've suffered worse. As he though about what had happened when he had hardly been older than a kit. His strange coloring had been discovered, and he had been abandoned, left to fend for himself in the wilderness. It's a good thing, that by then, he had been a master at hunting, even better than most grown wolves.
He got up and looked around. He was in a canyon, with rocks on either side of the canyon, preventing escape. He looked at a pool of water, which had berries lying next to the pool. He decided to eat them, to keep his strength up.
As he gulped the berries down, he noticed another being down with him. It was an old black bear. It growled. And, strangely, Scipio could under stand it. "You will stay here until tamed enough for Mistress Zanna and Lord Gale's purposes." it growled, then walked into a cave, and pushed a rock in front of the entrance.

Tora awoke, with a pain in her stomach. As she got up, the pain eased. She pased about trying to think of a way to get out. As she pased, the pain came back again.
It must be the berries i ate. she thought. She decided to go farther into the tunner to see what it was that had given her the berries. As she walked father into the tunnel, the pain in her stomach grew sharper, until it was almost unbearable. By then, she could see the faint outline of a creature. It was a bear. A brown bear, by the looks of it. She went back to the mouth of the tunnel, and the pain decreased. She whined, and lay down. She fell again, into a deep sleep, controled by Zanna and Gale.

As the wolves ran, they were split up. Zanna and Gale were stuck with Pheonix, and they decided to get rid of her. They walked along and went to the edge of the water.
"The others will never find us here!" protested Pheonix.
"You'll see..." hissed Gale. Zanna and Gale, with thier combined power, forced Pheonix to swim to an island off-shore. As Zanna and Gale stepped onto the shore, a huge black rock appeared, with an opening big enough for a wolf to go into. Gale kicked Pheonix into the cave, left some water and berries in the cave, and then Gale and Zanna swam back to shore. As they got back to shore, they watched as the black rock slowly dissapeared into the sand, with a pittiful looking Pheonix, left staring at them, until she vanished from view, under 3 feet of sand and rock. They then decided to return and see how Hunter had progressed. They padded off in the direction of the forest they had left Hunter in.

As Hunter struggled to move the tree's roots enough to see the strange creature, the roots always snapped back into place, whipping Hunter in the face. Hunter finally gave up, and ate some more of the disgusting berries, that were transforming him, and drank some water.
The tree than grumbled, "Catch a squirrel, and bring it back to me without eating it." Hunter's consious mind, then watched, as his body was taken control, and forced to do what the tree ordered. He watched as his boddy was let out of the tree's root cage, and watched as his body stalked a squirrel. He caught it, and for a moment, the thing that had taken over his body let him smell the freshly killed squirrel meat. He wanted to devour it, to eat it up, bones and all, but before he could, his body was taken control of again, and it returned to the tree. It layed the squirrel's carcass down, and walked back into the tree jail. He watched as the tree's roots closed again, and watched as his freedom dissapeared.
He than came back into consiousness, and lay down, whining and howling loudly. The tree than said to quiet down, and his muzzle and throat felt as if they had been tied shut. He then fell into a fitfull sleep.

Chapter 12
Hunter woke to find the root imprisonment was gone. "I thought you were trying to keep me captive?" He told the tree, but there was no
reply. Then the thing walked into the clearing on its pink sticks. "Come on old wolf." It said gesturing him out. When Hunter tried
to get out the tree reacted lahing its root around his paws. "Oh come on!!!" The thing said. "It took hours to free you." Hunter
looked up, "What are you?"

Zanna and Gale raced through the trees making into the clearing to find a beautiful den in waiting. "Hunter," whispered Zanna
",its beautiful." Hunter looked at her puzzled. "I said its beautiful." Zanna repeated. Hunter still looked puzzled but then said
"Εγώ dont κατανόηση σας."

Scipio ate the berries and drank the water after waking the next morning. He felt like climbing out of the canyon. He got half
way up but a ledge that was sticking out made him have to cimb back down. He sat there the rest of the day thinking of escape.

Tora woke and found the berries and water waiting. She lapped up the water and ate the berries falling asleep again.

Phenix woke to a rock hitting her muzzle nd water splashing. She lapped up the water and ate he berries next to them without
question. She heard a scratching noise from outside and shouted, "Wh-whos there?" "Its me," shouted a voice ",Romina!!"

Hannibal walked long days and nights trying to find his frends. As far as he knew he was the only one not captured. After
several days he gave up and headed toward the Fang of Myra.
